Your Local Educational Partner
At Shiery’s Tutoring, we consider ourselves a partner in your student’s educational journey. We understand that students are most likely to thrive when given the proper encouragement, challenges, and support. Our role is to work with families to provide that balance. Each of our services is designed to meet students academically where they are at and offer individualized support to help them succeed. When meeting with families through orientations, check-ins, or our community events like our Open House, we strive to include families in the process, for learning works best when all partners are committed. For those of you who are interested in trying one of our services, just remember, we are your Local, Educational Partners, meaning our goal is to work with you however we can to make sure that your students find success!

Who is Brad Shiery
With almost 20 years of teaching a wide range of students and subjects, I can say that I’ve found my Ikigai. Throughout this journey, I have had the unique opportunity to work with hundreds of other professional educators, teach thousands of students, and work both within and outside of educational systems to support students’ learning. It has been my privilege to serve this community, and I’m incredibly grateful for the welcoming and inclusion this community has shown in return. Over the years, I have found my passions within education which include writing and equity. When I first started, I had zero desire to teach writing, and equity was a foreign word. However, after attending several rigorous education programs, which pushed me to work with differing students populations, I couldn’t help but find myself drawn into the world of equity. Writing came later. After my own initial struggles with writing in college, I spent extra time, effort, and energy building that skill. Writing is subjective, which was not my original strength. I had to work hard. Fail. Persevere, and keep going to build this skill. That’s why writing and communication have been paramount in my current work. Communication and language are access points to the world. If we aren’t able to communicate and do so effectively, then we are limited from fully engaging with each other. What I’m most proud of about our reading and writing program is the holistic approach it takes to reading and writing, meaning it crosses genres, text styles, interests, and fields to show students that writing is a fundamental skill, ubiquitous in almost every field. Students who learn to communicate well will enter the work force and professional field ready to excel. That is our goal. We don’t want students to just survive, or graduate. We want students to learn the skill they will need for the rest of their lives, so wherever they end up, they will be ready to thrive.
